Lake Mburo National Park- Whispers of the Wild

In the middle of an extensive rich acacia woodland is one of Uganda’s smallest but spectacular and breathtaking national parks, Lake Mburo National Park. The park is only a few hours away from Kampala. Lake Mburo, as the gem of the park, is a very special place with the variety of attractions ranging from dry hillsides, bushy thickets, open and wooded savannas to forest, lakes, and swamps. Its sculptured landscapes, rolling hills and tranquil lakeshores, forest galleries, seasonal and permanent swamps and grassy valleys host a wealth of wildlife in a tropical setting.

The park is remarkable with best views of gigantic elands, impalas, zebras, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hyena, topi and reedbuck and acacia associated birds. The five lakes within the park attract hippos and crocodiles while fringing swamps hide secretive papyrus specialists such as the sitatunga, antelope and red, black and yellow papyrus ganalek.

Birders have their treasure in the impressive 332 species of birds, including shoebill, yellow warbler, African fin foot, saddle billed stork, great snipe, abyssisian ground horn bill and white winged warbler.

Attractions include game tracks, salt licks, Rwonyo rest camp, Rubanga forest, a conservation education centre and cultural encounters including the long horned Ankole cow!
