Kibale National Park- The Primate Capital of the World

Kibale National Park is the most wonderful of Uganda’s tropical rain forests and one of the most rewarding areas to explore. The park boasts of 13 species of primates including the localized Red Columbus, L’Hoest’s monkeys and the endemic Uganda Mangabay.

Kibale’s major attraction is the illusive chimpanzees, the delightful apes, the closest animals to humans than any other living creature. These can be seen swimming in tree branches as one trek through the forest trails.

The park also gives you a life time opportunity to sight over 300 bird species and the 180 kilometre-long migration wildlife corridor. It is a habitat of mammals like the illusive forest elephants, buffalos, giant forest hogs and a half dozen antelope species (of course armed park rangers make the experience safe to enjoy).

The park lies close to the tranquil Ndali-Kasenda crater area and within half a day’s drive of the Queen Elizabeth, Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National Parks and the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve. Activities include, chimpanzee tracking, chimpanzee habituation experience, nature walks and hikes, bird watching and night nature walks, cultural heritage and nature trail and children’s activities (above 12 years).
