Full Itinerary

Day 1 - Drive from Kampala to Kitgum

Our experienced guide driver will pick you up at 7 am from your accommodation in Kampala and head to northern Uganda. It will take 7-8 hours to reach Kitgum town where you will have an overnight.

Day 2 - Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park

You will drive the rather a rough road to pristine spectacular Park. The remarkable park ranges in altitude of 914 and 2.750 meters. You will have the isolated beautiful Park to yourself. The journey from Kitgum to the park will take you four hours. You will check in your accommodation (at Apoka Safari Lodge or Bandas or put up your camp at a designated campsite).

In the afternoon, you will take a game drive with your guide and a ranger. Kidepo is a home to lions, giraffes, zebras, leopards, elephants, buffalo, elands, oribis, odd jackal, Jackson's hartebeest, and reedbucks. Kidepo is the only place in Uganda where you can find cheetah and ostrich. Game drive through four loop circuits that explore Narus Valley (a rolling grassland plain enclosed by distant mountains) and around Apoka will refresh you and guarantee you maxim wild views.

Day 3 - Game drives and optional Nature walks

Depart on a morning game drive to the hot springs via the palm tree lined Kidepo River along South Sudan boarder. Search for ostriches and leopard tortoises along the way. After a packed lunch, stretch your legs during a guided walk through the park. Make stops to take photos and breathe the fresh air. You can also visit to a nearby community outside the park and enjoy a traditional Karamanjong life experience.

Day 4 – Game Drive and return to Gulu town

Go for early morning drive to see out the other unreached parts of the park. You can decide to also go visit the community Manyata (Karamajong village) for the photo opportunity. There is an option to visit Ik community, the smallest ethnic group in Uganda with their own distinctive culture. They stay on slopes and tops of Mount Morungole which stands at 2750m! This region can be explored on foot with a ranger and requires some good fitness.

Day 5 – Drive to Gulu town

Head out to a 6 hour journey to Gulu where you will have an overnight. Evening walks around Gulu town are worthwhile. Hear from communities the stories of infamous Kony War and how people are recovering from the 20 year insurgency.

Day 6 - Drive back to Kampala

You will drive back to Kampala crossing the Nile River at Karuma falls/bridge. If like, we can take to a two day visit to Murchison Falls National Park and see the world' powerful falls (see our Murchison Falls National Park Page and itinerary). The journey from Gulu to Kampala will take 5 hours. If you choose to continue to Kampala, our guide driver will drop you at your accommodation.
