Detailed itinerary

Arrival in Uganda

You will be picked from Entebbe Airport by a guide-driver. You will then be brought to your booked hotel of choice in Kampala. If you arrive on time, we will take you around Kampala for city tours.

Day 2: Rhino Sanctuary and Murchison Falls National Park

You will set off from Kampala and take the Masindi Road, and branch off at Nakasongora to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided walk. You will view the rhinos walk followed by a picnic lunch. After lunch, drive past Masindi through Budongo Rain Forest and arrive on time to catch a ferry to cross to Murchison Falls National Park. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 3: Game Drive and Launch Trip

Make the most of the morning by taking the 7:00am ferry to begin the game drive in Buligi. The area is home to many lions, elephants, giraffes and other wildlife. After lunch, embark on the three-hour launch trip to the base of the falls. Cruise past huge hippo pods, crocodiles, bathing buffalo and numerous aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfall. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 4: Travel to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to the southern part of the country to Kibale Forest National Park. Kibale Forest NP is home to a remarkable 13 primate species, including the much localised red colobus and L'Hoest's monkey and chimpanzees - indeed Kibale is the primate capital of the world. Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking

After breakfast, you will be briefed by park authorities before embarking on the popular chimp tracking. This experience lasts from 2 to 4 hours. With a range of butterflies and 335 bird species in Kibale forest, your trek will be a discovery filled experience. After viewing the chimps feed and play, return to your accommodation for lunch.

After lunch, take the swamp walk in the Bigodi sanctuary a habitat rich in bird-life some of the most common and sought after being the great Blue Turaco. Overnight at Primate Lodge (FB)

Day 6: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Take an early breakfast and checkout your room to head to your exploring trip. You will pass through Fort Portal town and head to Kasese, driving along foothills of Rwenzori Mountains. You will check in Mweya Lodge, situated on a peninsula overlooking Lake Edward and Kasinga Channel, offering beautiful views of the park with the Rwenzori Mountains in the background. Queen Elizabeth National Park has beautiful scenery and it is Uganda's most popular and accessible savannah reserve, with a total area of1978km². It is has one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game reserve in the world, including a total of 95 recorded mammal species and more than 610 bird species. Day 7: Game Drives and Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, go for a long game drive starting just in time to see game as they have their "breakfast". This park offers variety of wildlife, be assured of a classic African safari experience, the tracks through Kasenyi, the North Kazinga Plains.

The drive will also lead you to Ishasha Sector, famed for its tree-climbing lions. You will take a game drive in this sector of the park to find these big cats as they relax in large fig trees virtually guaranteed buffalo, antelope and elephant sightings, along with warthogs and baboons. The experienced guide in the early morning or at dusk will help you track down a pride of lions, and maybe even the odd leopard.
In the afternoon, you will have a boat launch on Kazinga Channel, the oasis for many of the fascinating species that inhabit the park! Taking a boat tour along the Kazinga Channel will give you a chance to cruise just metres from hundreds of enormous hippos and buffalos while elephants linger on the shoreline.
With a guaranteed seat on the boat and great views, you will be entertained to over 60 bird species that can be spotted during the trip while expert ranger guides narrate the creatures' stories. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (BDB)

Day 8: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, take a game drive through the Ishasha sector to have last views of the tree-climbing lions and leopards and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Bwindi is regarded to be one of the most biologically diverse forests in Africa with 90 mammal species, including 11 primates. It is ranked as one of the best in Uganda for forest birding, with 23 highly localized Albertine Rift endemics. Bwindi is renowned for its mountain gorilla population. Slightly more than half of the world's mountain gorilla population is resident in Bwindi: an estimated 280 – 320 individuals living in 15 groups. You now know why UNESCO declared Bwindi a world heritage site! Overnight at Buhoma Gorilla Lodge (BLD)

Day 9: Gorilla Tracking Experience

After breakfast, take a short drive to Park Headquarters and meet with excellent park authority guides and trackers, who will brief you on gorilla tracking guidelines. After the briefing, take a hike into the forest to look for the gorillas. The trekking can take between one and four hours and the terrain is rough and at times muddy. The beauty of forest and its scenery make the trekking worthwhile and encountering the gorillas is more humbling, the most profound natural history experience in the world. Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed films are recommended. It can rain any time; hence waterproof clothing is vital, including protective gear for your camera. Return to your lodge; relax on the campfire and a good dinner. Day 10: Forest Walk

Take a guided forest walk through the forest and have a close up experience of the natural wonders within a rainforest environment, including a number of monkey species, duikers, birds and many colorful butterflies. Return to your lodge for lunch. You can choose to visit a local community or stay at your lodge. Prepare for an early checkout as the journey is still on! Bwindi is ranked as one of the best in Uganda for forest birding, with 23 highly localised Albertine Rift endemics. Overnight at Buhoma Gorilla Lodge (BLD)

Day 12: Travel to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, drive through rugged and crafty Kisoro hills that lead you to Lake Bunyonyi, where over 200 bird species have been recorded. "Bunyonyi" means "the place of many little birds" The lake's altitude is 1,950m, and it is surrounded by hills that are 2,200 to 2,478m high. It is the second deepest lake in Africa! Day 13: Canoeing, Swimming and village community walks

You will have a day to relax, unwind in one of East Africa's most beautiful and highly elevated locations - 7,000ft above sea level – which offers great views of one of the most organised mountain farming in the world. Go for canoeing, swimming or village walks. Overnight at Bunyonyi Safari Camp (BB)

Day 14: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you will drive through well-terraced Kigezi hills that lead you to the Ankole cattle corridor, which surrounds Lake Mburo National Park. Lake Mburo is the best place in Uganda to see the gigantic eland antelope, zebra, topi, and impala, and several acacia-associated birds. You will take an afternoon game drive/walk accompanied by an armed ranger. Overnight at Lake Mburo Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 15: Game Drive through the park and return to Kampala

After early breakfast, take a game drive through the acacia savannah and woodlands of the park, view zebra, impala, eland buffalo, topi, warthog and the occasional leopard. There are many savannah bird species including cocqui francolin, lapwings and hornbills. Drive out of the park and join the Masaka-Kampala highway. Stop at Zebra Hotel in Masaka for a good local lunch and drive on to Kampala. Make a stopover at the equator for a photo opportunity and souvenir shopping. You will arrive in Kampala in the afternoon to visit the craft markets for some more souvenir shopping. Overnight in Kampala (BB)

Day 16: Source of the Nile

After breakfast, drive to Jinja and visit the source River Nile – the world's longest river. Take a boat ride to the source of the river as it makes its 6400 kilometre journey to the Mediterranean. There is a range of activities, including white water rafting, horse riding, bungee jumping and speed boat cruises. You will have lunch on the boat, before returning to Kampala past Mabira Rain Forest. Overnight in Kampala (BB)

Day 17: Transfer to Entebbe and Departure

Your travel documents should be ready in your handbag. Today, your dedicated guide-driver will be waiting at the hotel lounge to take you to Entebbe to catch your flight on time.
